Illuminate
Your Space
A lighting showroom and a working electrical counter, under one roof. Fixtures for the people who live in the house — parts for the people who wire it.
5.0 from 27 Google reviews

A photo on a screen will never tell you how a fixture actually throws light. So we built a room where you can stand under it, turn the finish in your hand, and know before you buy.
Homeowners
Come in with a photo, a paint chip and a rough idea. Leave with a fixture that fits the room and a plan for hanging it.
Electricians & Contractors
Call your list in. It's pulled and on the counter when you get here. Doors open at 7:00 AM.
Designers & Builders
Specify a whole house from one place, see the finishes in person, and get a real human on the phone when the schedule moves.

Two businesses,
one counter.
Walk in the front and it's a lighting showroom — chandeliers lit, finishes out, someone who'll actually ask about your ceiling height. Walk to the back and it's a supply house: wire, breakers, conduit, boxes, and the small parts that stop a jobsite cold when you run out.
Most places do one or the other. Doing both is why a designer and an electrician end up at the same counter on a Tuesday morning — and why we open at seven.
The index
From a single dead bulb with an odd base to a full commercial re-lamp.
01Residential Lighting
Chandeliers, pendants, vanity, sconces and recessed — chosen in person, under real light.
02Electrical Supply
The wire, breakers, boxes and fittings that keep a jobsite moving — in stock, on the shelf.
03The Contractor Counter
Doors at 7:00 AM. Call it in, we pull it, you're back on the road.
04LED Retrofits & Energy Efficiency
Cut the load on a shop, warehouse or house without turning it into a hospital corridor.
05Bulbs, Lamps & Ballasts
The odd base, the discontinued shape, the one nobody else carries. Bring the old one in.
06Outdoor & Landscape
Curb appeal after dark — porch, path, façade, and the pole light at the end of the drive.

“If we don’t have it, we’ll tell you who does.”
It costs us the sale and it wins us the customer. It is, almost word for word, what people write about us in their reviews.
In their own words
“Very helpful — and even though they didn't have the item I needed, they recommended another supplier who thankfully had it in stock.”

Notes on light
What we've learned from years of people walking in and asking, honestly — what should I do with this room?

Five stars, twenty-seven times, and almost nobody outside Macomb County has heard of them. A close look at what actually happens inside Van Dyke Lighting & Electrical Supply — and why people keep driving past two big-box stores to get there.
GuideJune 24, 2026The Three-Layer Rule: How to Light a Room Like Someone Who Knows
Almost every badly-lit room in Michigan has the same problem, and it isn't the fixture. It's that the room is doing all its work with one light. Here's the rule designers use — and how to apply it without hiring one.
GuideMay 19, 2026LED Retrofits: What It Actually Saves, and What It Can Cost You
Switching to LED is easy to do badly. Get the color temperature wrong and a warm living room turns clinical. Get the driver wrong and the dimmer buzzes. Here's how to make the swap without wrecking the room.
Bring the paint chip.
Bring the dead bulb.
Ten minutes at the counter beats an hour of scrolling. Park out front, walk in, and talk to someone who has done this before.
