Where experience
meets dedication.
We are a family-owned lighting showroom and electrical supply house on Van Dyke Avenue in Shelby Township — the kind of place where the person who answers the phone is the person who owns the outcome.

A counter,
a name,
a reputation.
Van Dyke Lighting & Electrical Supply has stood on Van Dyke Avenue [CONFIRM: since 19XX / for XX years], serving the same stretch of Macomb County the whole time. We are family owned and family operated. That is not a line on a website — it is the reason the answers you get here are different from the answers you get from a stranger in an apron who started last week.
The business grew out of a simple observation: homeowners and electricians were being sent to two different places for the same job. The designer picked a fixture at a showroom that had never seen a load center. The electrician bought his wire at a counter that had never hung a chandelier. Nobody was looking at the whole room.
So we do both. Out front, a lit showroom — chandeliers, pendants, vanity, outdoor, fans — where you can see a finish against your cabinet sample instead of guessing from a thumbnail. Out back, a working supply counter with the wire, breakers, conduit, boxes and bulbs that keep a job moving. Same building. Same people. Same phone number.
We open the doors at 7:00 AM because that is when the trucks roll, and we stay until 5:00 because that is when the homeowner gets off work. It is a small thing. It tells you most of what you need to know about how we run this.
We would rather lose the sale than send you home with the wrong part and a second trip ahead of you.

Three things we
don’t bend on
- I
Family owned, family run
No call center, no regional manager, no script. The person who picks up the phone is the person who owns the outcome — and who you'll see again next time.
- II
Experience over inventory
Anyone can stock a shelf. Knowing which of those forty fixtures is right for a nine-foot ceiling in a north-facing room is the part you can't order online.
- III
The honest answer
If we don't have it, we'll tell you who does. We would rather lose a sale than send you home with the wrong part and a second trip ahead of you.

The person at the
counter
No call center. No script. No regional manager to escalate to. You'll talk to someone who has specified this fixture before, hung one like it, and knows what happens when you put a dimmer on the wrong driver.
Bring the dead bulb. Bring the photo of the room. Bring the print. We’ll work off whatever you walked in with — and if the honest answer is “that’s not us, try them,” you’ll get that too.
